Long Hard Work Leads to Job Creation
Haiti Trip (October-November); Day Two: Today, as I traveled from appointment to appointment, I could tell that Haiti was reeling from the effects of two significant occurrences. One event involved Mother Nature at her worst (Hurricane Sandy), and the other event involved Man at his worst. Individually, each occurrence is harmful in its own right. When combined these occurrences are akin to throwing gasoline on top of a fire.
In an unprecedented move of judicial significance, Government officials have arrested the son of a prominent Haitian family for allegedly running a kidnapping ring. The shock waves of this arrest are reverberating through out every strata of Haitian society and I expect these waves to only intensify in the days to come.
On a more positive note, my activities today centered on job creation opportunities in Mole Saint-Nicolas, and the establishment of a consultative arrangement with a family who own multiple businesses throughout Haiti. This contract has been months in the making and could not have come at a better time. (They’re even picking up the cost of this month’s flight!). In any event, today was a good day.
Sleep well and I’ll check-in, again, tomorrow.
