Titanyen – An Emotional Visit

Titanyen was my destination on Day 2 of my Haiti Trip.  Here are two rocks that I gathered from the mass grave at Titanyen.  As you will see in future photo’s, there are acres upon acres of these black and white stones covering the bodies. In some places the rocks have giving way to the bodies below.   Anyway, here are two touch stones that will remain with me until the memorial is constructed.

I have just arrived back at the guesthouse where I am staying, and the quiet and empty house that greeted me this morning is now full of life.   In all, 18 missionary volunteers, most of them teenagers and all of them destine to work in the attached orphanage, sit in a circle and discuss the following days itinerary.

As I shake off the dust of a broken country, and the broken bodies and broken dreams of Titanyen from my cloths, I offer my polite hello’s to those in attendance and move on to the solitude of my bunk bed.   For tonight it seems, I’ll let someone else focus on what should happen tomorrow and I’ll simply focus on surviving tonight.  Goodnight…
