Haiti Trip (March); Day One:

Miami International AirportIt’s very early Tuesday morning and I am awaiting my flight from Tampa to Miami en route to Haiti. Since I will be on the go from the moment I deplane in Port au Prince, I thought it wise to check-in now while I have a access to the Internet and before my most grueling schedules ever (physically, emotionally and spiritually) consumes me.

Though I will participate in numerous meetings-conversations-field trips and presentations over the course of the next 8-days, it’s safe to say that one of my most important meetings of this trip will occur immediately upon my arrival. In short, I will convene a session of my in-country senior leadership committee for the Haitian National Memorial and Peace Park initiative.

And though I will cover a multitude of complexities during our 3-4 hour gathering, here is what I will say to commence our meeting:

“Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them. This is our duty, our oath, and we shall not fail them.”

This is my journey and I am on my way to my next stop. Be well…
